A brick town on a ridge, a cellar system underneath it and the vineyards it

The first frames are the town at the top. Piazza Grande opens the set: the Palazzo
Comunale with its clock tower on one side, a Renaissance palace front on the other, and the
columned well between them. Then the square from above, the roofs falling away towards the
Valdichiana, the houses stepping down the hillside and a bell tower standing over them.
Below the walls comes the Tempio di San Biagio, alone on its lawn, dome and single tower
against the sky. After that the pictures go underground. The cellars run beneath the streets
here, and the frames show casks under brick arches, a long vaulted tunnel with rows down
both sides, a room cut straight out of the rock, and a tasting table laid under a vault.
Then the country. A cypress-lined track curves over the Val d'Orcia across the valley,
vine rows run in close bands over a hillside, and a hill town sits on its ridge beyond the
vineyards. The set closes at the table: a board of cured meats and cheese, pici in tomato
sauce, fresh pasta hanging to dry, bread under new olive oil, and the Cinta Senese pigs
rooting under the trees on a farm outside the town.
