It is a coach day south from Florence through three hill towns: Montalcino, Pienza and
Montepulciano. You get a wine tasting in Montalcino, another in Montepulciano, and time on
your own in the streets. Allow eleven and a half to twelve hours door to door.
Both Florence days are sold by the same operator at the same fare. One gives you more free
time in the towns; the other swaps some of it for a cellar tour at a Montalcino estate and a
pecorino tasting in Pienza.
Your time in Montepulciano is short on either. It is a taste of the town, not a visit.

How is Vino Nobile different from Brunello?

Yes. Porta al Prato to
Piazza Grande climbs the whole way, and a reviewer on a Florence coach day calls it a nice hard hike. Allow more time than the distance suggests, and a good deal more in August.
